LIMELITE - Advanced Beat Composer
native_instruments_electronic_instruments_limelite.jpg (59156 bytes)
This masterpiece is definitely one of the most exciting and advanced drum machines and beat composers ever created! Combining powerful sequencing options, a huge bank of samples, and an awesome array of effect processors, Limelite takes the beat-box concept to a whole new level.

Limelite’s sound architecture is vast, complex and yet surprisingly easy to use:

Sequencing and Remixing

The integrated 7 channel step sequencer allows for instant groove creation and manipulation. It includes a modulation sequencer and an additional pattern sequencer to automatically switch from pattern to pattern.

The remix section allows for easy beat variations without the need to edit the sequencer pattern itself: Just choose one of 127 predefined variation algorithms, select the interval of bars to vary and start your mixing mayhem.

Advanced drum samplers

The heart of Limelite is the sampler section, consisting of 5 integrated samplers which are packed with around 640 drum samples, instruments and fx sounds. Each sampler boasts a dedicated set of powerful sound shaping and modulation options offering unlimited sonic flexibility.

For example, use the modulation sequencer to swap between different samples or vary the pitch, attack, decay and much more. With pitch modulation you can add melodic variations such as basslines to your grooves!

Drum oriented effects

The highly advanced effects section sports a delay panel, equalizer, filter, a unique "Pulp" FX processor, and a multi effects unit with a choice 22 effects – letting you drive your beats crazy. Control two effects simultaneously with the XY pad. You can even record the XY mouse movements for lively and smooth effect transitions.
To finish it all off, the "magic" section delivers granular sample-twisting and extreme filter effects.

And the icing on the cake: You can switch the built-in samplers off and route an external signal (drum loop, audio track etc.) into Limelite to create mind-bending sonic madness!

Moving faders

The key to Metaphysical Function’s unique sound lies with the 30 automatable faders, which control a variety of parameters, including the amplitude and pitch of the oscillators, and the settings of the FX units.
Just press one of the relevant automation recording buttons and draw in your individual parameter movements, to create ethereal sounds.

Free stand-alone demo version:

A smaller and limited version of Metaphysical Function was released as a stand-alone application at the end of 2003. As a registered NI user cou can download this free instrument to get an impression of its outstanding sound potential. But keep in mind that the new version on Electronic Instruments Vol. 2 is greatly improved: It offers full access to all the sound parameters and can be loaded into REAKTOR, so you can use it as a plug-in with your favourite sequencer or even modify it yourself.

KRYPT - Granular Drum Machine
native_instruments_electronic_instruments_krypt.jpg (40081 bytes)

Krypt is a loop generator quite unlike any other. In essence, it consists of a programmable granular sampler wired to a six-channel sequencer with an intelligent pattern generation algorithm. It is capable of generating polymorphic beats that are simply unheard of.

Granular Grooves

Krypt is a drum machine quite unlike any other. In essence, it consists of a granular sampler and a six-channel sequencer featuring an intelligent pattern generation algorithm. Thanks to its advanced granular sampling architecture and independent control over loads of sample parameters, Krypt is capable of producing a stunning range of unique and distinctive grooves.
Krypt contains five instruments:

The 6 channel sequencer is velocity-sensitive and creates beats with a length of 16 to 64 steps. Sophisticated random generators assist in creating automatic groove patterns.

The granular sampler provides two modes of operation - one for single drum sounds (drum maps), the other for remixing complete drum loops using built-in beat slicing. Its capability to independently modulate up to 8 parameters (such as sample selection, pitch, speed, grain size and more) using LFOs and velocity allow for maximum flexibility in creating extraordinary granular beats.

The dedicated snapshot section on the Panel is an advanced control center for quick access to the sequencer and sampler snapshots, while the "song" section is a flexible pattern sequencer ideal for live use: just specify the order of sequencer patterns and sampler settings to be played.
AKKORD - Sequenced Chord Generator

Akkord is a hybrid additive / FM synthesizer that creates chord sequences, arpeggios, shimmering pads, delayed synth and deep bass lines, subtle harmonic rhythms, ambient textures and even drum grooves. It's the perfect instrument to add evolving harmonic structures and arpeggios to your rhythm tracks.

Akkord features an original tone generation engine combining 3 oscillators, a harmonics generator and flexible wave shaping options. The rich and distinctive sound is enhanced by a range of internal effects, and animated by 2 feedback envelopes and beat-syncable LFOs.

Chord Sequencer

Akkord also features a powerful 8-pattern, 32-step, polyphonic chord sequencer for drawing in chord changes and synth lines. A template list including more than 50 chord types lets you easily create everything form the simplest to the most complex jazz chords, from simple minor to "7sus4" or 13-9+11.

Naturally you can use AKKORD without the built-in chord sequencer to play via a MIDI keyboard or a MIDI track within your audio host.

RESOCHORD - Polyphonic Resonator
native_instruments_electronic_instruments_resochord.jpg (25096 bytes)

This powerful resonator imprints harmonic structures onto any input signal – including percussive sounds with no existing harmonics. It consists of 6 feedback units, each resonating at a different frequency, generating rich and luscious chords, which can be played via MIDI.

Resochord is an advanced effects units that imprints harmonic structures onto any input signal – including percussive sounds with no existing harmonics. This means you can play drum loops and other "unpitched" sounds harmonically via your MIDI keyboard or a sequencer MIDI track!
Resochord essentially consists of 6 feedback units, that can be considered analogous to the strings of a guitar, which are effectively 'plucked' by the shape and rhythm of the input signal. As each 'string' resonates at a different frequency, rich and luscious chords are generated – and thus, remarkably, any input signal can be transformed into a unique, MIDI playable instrument!

Various controlling modes make it possible to play the effect via a MIDI keyboard or the internal and programmable chord memory.
FAST FX - Advanced Performance Effects

A combination of six unusual effects that can turn any track into something really special - by slicing, filtering, gating, looping and "freezing" the signal in unspeakable ways.

Fast FX features a special 'live' snapshot system – which makes it perfect for live performance.

Tempo-synced live effects

Fast FX is the ultimate effect engine for use on stage, but it is also performs excellently as a plug-in with your favourite sequencer. Fast FX is a set of 6 different effects: Freeze, zZZzZ, Slicemanipulator, Gate, Delay and Filter.

These effects can be chained together in a variety of ways, offering a large range of sound design possibilities.
However, due to its sophisticated scene recall system, it's the perfect tool for playing live.

Six special effects:

The Freeze Effect creates looped and 'frozen' soundbites.
The zZZzZZ module takes care of granular transformations, by detuning the signal that has been broken down into grains, the smallest possible particles.

native_instruments_electronic_instruments_fast_fx.jpg (55885 bytes)

The Slice manipulator chops the signal up into beat slices and changes the order and direction in which they are played.
Gate uses an integrated 16 step sequencer to generate rhythmical 'gating effects'.
The delay section utilizes a stereo delay with modulated feedback and filters whereas the filter section makes use of its integrated 16 step sequencer to generate rhythmical filter sweeps.

Live use:

Fast FX’s speciality is live performance. Not only are all controls designed to be tweaked in real-time, but Fast FX features a special 'live' snapshot system – enabling any of the 256 states to be instantly recalled via simple keyboard strokes. This ability to instantly switch between presets is what really brings Fast FX to life.

Fast FX uses one of two signal sources: external input or the integrated sampler which automatically syncs loops to the chosen tempo.
