REAKTOR runs stand-alone or as a plug-in on Windows and Macintosh computers with minimal latency and very precise MIDI timing. Compatibility with the common interface standards on both platforms ensures that REAKTOR can be integrated seamlessly in almost any studio environment.

The Library – a customizable device pool
REAKTOR offers a huge and growing library with staggering instruments, music machines and effect tools. Explore analog modelled, additive, FM, and unique synthesizers. Groove with real-time time compression and expansion. Mix with compressors, EQs, pitch shifters, filtered delays, distortion, and up to sixteen channels of surround. Everything is immediately at your fingertips, from authentic emulations of classic gear to creations never heard before. Since everything is modular in REAKTOR, the instruments can be modified and improved in any way.
Many users worldwide have already discovered these creative possibilities, and regularly contribute new and modified instruments to the user library database on NI's web site.

Preview: The next REAKTOR version
At this years Musikmesse in March 2002 Native Instruments previewed the next REAKTOR version. The new version will offer a extended user interface and enhanced Modules, Makros, and functions
The Reaktor Principle

Reaktor provides more than 200 basic modules which are the source material for creating any sound generator or effect-processor you can think of: Numerous "analog" and sampling oscillators, various filters and envelopes, shapers, delays, sequencers and much more. The user can interconnect all the modules freely in the structure window.

Macros are used as "shortcuts" to quickly recall a set of modules or structures and allows a more clear and organized layout to your designs. You can even have macros within macros. They also make it easy to reuse building blocks. This gives first-time users the power to easily design their own creations in no time thanks to a comprehensive set of ready-made macros.

Instruments are the next level up consisting mainly of macros, but also modules as well. It has its own MIDI parameters, program memory, and a separate panel window for the controllers. On the highest level of the REAKTOR hierarchy - which is called an ensemble - several instruments can be combined together in a "multi-timbral" like environment giving you the power to create entire songs with Reaktor alone.

New in Reaktor3
Find all details on the new audio core, the flexible and newly designed user interface with drag&drop functionality, professional metering, enhanced toolbar, the floating inspector, visual samplers, analog modelled filters and the new modules XY control, audio and event array, grain cloud, 8-Tap-Delay, 8-channel Scanning Mixer and much more.

New Audio Core
REAKTOR 3 includes a completely rewritten core audio engine that is optimized for the SSE and AltiVec instruction sets on the Intel Pentium® and G4 processors. Depending on the ensemble, the new audio core is up to 100% more efficient than REAKTOR 2.3 running the same ensemble on the same processor. REAKTOR 3 for MacOS features extensive G4 optimizations for similar performance improvements.
Flexible User Interface
REAKTOR 3's Drag&Drop functionality makes it easy to get files into REAKTOR. Drag&Drop works with audio files, instruments, and macros. Download some new macros from the Internet, drag them into REAKTOR 3, then start to make music. One of the most useful features of REAKTOR 3's Drag&Drop is the ability to insert multiple audio files into a sampler module. Getting ready for a live performance? Drag 128 audio files into a Beat Loop module and you're ready to roll in a matter of seconds. Any off-line operation, such as loading an ensemble or samples, now has a progress bar.
New Design and more Flexibility
You've already noticed the striking graphic design of REAKTOR 3 above. All knobs, sliders, buttons, and the toolbar have been redesigned for greater clarity. REAKTOR 3 also lets you customize your environment. Choose any color for the Panel background and the Selection color. You're not limited to any preselected palette, chose from as many colors as your video card supports (this is usually several million!).
Professional Metering
REAKTOR 3's Level Meters have also been redesigned. Now they have two resolution modes (coarse on the left and fine on the right in the picture below) and are as accurate and as fast any any digital metering. All Level Meters can also have a value readout to accurately monitor your audio levels, or to act as numerical displays for any object. Additionally, Level Meters and Faders can also be horizontally aligned and can have any length.

Enhanced Toolbar
REAKTOR 3's Toolbar is even more flexible. High accuracy input and output metering has been implemented, and the toolbar can even be undocked and used as a floating palette. The Toolbar lets you select sample rates up to 96 kHz, type in a tempo, and assign MIDI controllers to any panel element. It also displays current CPU load, manages snapshots, polyphony, and more.

Floating Inspector
All parameters in REAKTOR 3 are now set with the floating Properties Inspector. The Inspector lets you modify several modules one after the other, even if they are not related. Quickly set the range of a filter cutoff knob, for instance, then set the size of an envelope display, without ever double clicking.

Visuelle Sampler and AKAI Import

All Sampler Modules can display their audio data in the Panel Window. Any compatible sound file can be dragged and dropped into the sampler's Property Inspector for instant use, and AKAI sample data can be imported from AKAI-formatted CDs.

Check out the Modules (Graphic intensive page please be patient!)
