Common Mac Key Commands to Remember
CMD - O        Open
CMD - Q        Quit
CMD - W        Close
CMD - S         Save
CMD - C        Copy
CMD - X         Cut
CMD - V        Paste (V=Velcro)
CMD - A         Select All
CMD - Z        Undo
CMD - P        Print
CMD - F        Find (Sherlock if in Finder)
CMD - N         New folder (from desktop) New file (from within application)
CMD - M        Make Alias (in Finder)
CMD - I        Get Info on app, file or folder.
CMD - D        Duplicate
CMD - Y    Put away.  Dismounts volume and ejects if removable media. Puts file/folder back to original location it was created in.
CMD - Delete   Puts highlighted file into the trash.
CMD-Shift-Delete   Empties trash (Sys 9.1 and later)
Mac Window Shortcuts

CMD - W                   Closes active windows in Finder

CMD - OPT - W            Closes ALL windows in Finder

CMD-OPT-DOWN ARROW       (on file or folder) Opens file or folder while closing "parent" folder.

CMD - OPT- UP ARROW      (on file or folder) Closes   file or folder and opens "parent" folder.

CMD-OPT-Doubleclick       (on file or folder) Opens file or folder while closing "parent" folder.

CMD - RIGHT ARROW        (on folder) expands (turns downward) triangles for all nested folders

CMD - LEFT ARROW         (on folder) closes (turns to right) triangles for all nested folders

Troubleshooting/Maintenance

CMD - OPT -  ESC: Force Quit of an application if frozen (you should restart the entire computer after this)

CNTRL - CMD - Restart (little button on front of G4¹s): Force restart of
computer if crashed.

Shift (held down) during start up:  Starts computer without loading
extensions.

CMD-OPT-P-R (held down) during start up: "Zaps" parameter ram-- Wait for computer to chime 3 to 4 times then let go.

CMD-OPT-SHIFT-DELETE   (held down) during startup:  Bypasses default startup drive and looks for alternate startup volume.

CMD - Opt (held down) during startup: Rebuilds desktop files of all mounted drives

C   (held down) during startup: Forces computer to boot from System
folder on CD.

Spacebar
(held down) during startup:  Brings up extensions manager during startup.
Moving Files

Click - drag   a file from one window to another  In the Same drive or Volume - Moves the file.

OPT - click - drag  a file from one window to another  In the Same drive or Volume - Copies the file.

Click - drag   a file from one window to another  In a Different drive or Volume - Copies the file.
