Streaming the audio output of
Logic into ProTools TDM software.
Although LogicAudioMac Platinum can be used as a complete front end for ProTools TDM
hardware, thus eliminating the need for PT software altogether, some folks like to
use PT for the audio and Logic for the MIDI and AudioInstruments, and like to mix the
final result in ProTools software.
The premise is this: ProTools is synchronized to Logic via MTC and the OMS/IAC
driver, but the audio output of Logic is streamed into Aux inputs of PT software.
If you don't know how to sync the two, check out:
http://www.emagic.de/english/support/faq3.html
and scroll down a tiny bit until you get to question entitled:
"Q: I want to use Logic as a MIDI Sequencer only, playing back and
recording audio with the ProTools Software. I've heard this is
possible via "OMS" but how?"
You will need to purchase Emagic's ESB (Emagic System Bridge).
1) Disable the DAE in Logic (but keep DTDM enabled). Quit Logic.
2) Boot up PT software. Then boot up LAMP. You will now use
only the DTDM tracks in Logic.
3) Place the ESB plugin on an AUX track in ProTools. You'll
notice that you have 8 busses to choose from (or 4 stereo busses).
These are the "virtual DTDM outputs". It is these same 8 outputs
that will route DTDM track in Logic. |
