With speeds of up to 1GHz (and 1MB of L3 cache — a first in a notebook computer — for a solid performance boost) the superslim Titanium PowerBook G4 renders massive digital files, crunches digital video, and leaves Pentium 4-based PC notebooks in the dust. And this PowerBook G4 comes with the feature so many high-end users have lusted for — an elegantly engineered slot-loading SuperDrive.

The sleek exterior is as stunning as ever. The Titanium PowerBook G4 comes with all the refinements and esthetic touches that have made it the most coveted full-featured notebook computer on the planet: 1-inch thick, 5.4 pounds, AirPort, pure-grade titanium body, and 5-hour battery.* On the inside, faster PowerPC G4 processors, powerful graphics capabilities, up to 1GB of RAM, and the world’s most advanced operating system combine to deliver off-the-charts performance.

PowerPC G4 Processor Speed-optimized architecture
Inside the PowerBook G4 is your choice of a screamingly fast 1GHz or 867MHz PowerPC G4 processor with Velocity Engine and 1MB of DDR SRAM level 3 cache. Advanced processor design and memory architecture are among several core advantages that enable the PowerBook G4 to pack such a tremendous wallop. The level 3 cache is high-speed dedicated memory to the processor and boosts system performance by providing quick access to data and instructions en route to the processor. And it all adds up to wicked-fast performance. In the PC world, you’d be lucky to get this kind of performance in a desktop system. That’s because speed expressed as megahertz alone can be misleading — it’s not an accurate yardstick of overall system performance. Fact is, the PowerBook G4 powers past Pentium 4-based notebooks by up to 44 percent in Adobe Photoshop testing.**

Built in SuperDriveThe legendary SuperDrive
Your PowerBook G4 with SuperDrive (DVD-R/CD-RW) comes loaded with iDVD software, and can be used to burn DVDs which can be played in most consumer DVD players. The SuperDrive also lets you use iTunes to burn your own music CDs, and the Disc Burner feature in Mac OS X to burn data CDs. The SuperDrive reads DVD titles at 6x, and writes to 4.7-gigabyte DVD-R discs at 1x. Additionally, the SuperDrive reads CDs at 24x, writes to CD-R media at 8x, and writes to CD-RW at 4x. It supports DVD-Video, DVD-ROM and DVD-R, as well as CD-ROM, CD-Audio, CD-R, CD-RW, CD Bridge, CD Extended, CD Mixed Mode and Photo CD media. The SuperDrive comes standard on the 1GHz PowerBook G4. The 867MHz PowerBook G4 comes with a Combo drive (DVD-ROM/CD-RW) which enables you to burn CDs and read both DVDs and CDs.

AT Mobility Radeon 9000Sizzling graphics processor
The new PowerBook G4 comes turbocharged with the ATI Mobility Radeon 9000 graphics processor with up to 64MB of DDR SDRAM. With the ability to handle six textures in a single pass, second-generation hardware transform and lighting, and the industry’s best anisotropic filtering — the Mobility Radeon 9000 dramatically enhance all aspects of your visual experience in every application. It’s perfect for photorealistic 3D games and cinematic-quality video. The ATI Mobility Radeon 9000 features a number of cutting-edge graphics technologies, including programmable pixel and vertex shading for lighting and shadow effects never seen before on a notebook computer.

PowerBook G4 Screen Resolution Megawide Display
Do your best work in millions of colors on a stunning 15.2-inch (diagonal) widescreen format display with 1280-by-854-pixel resolution and the widest viewing angle seen on a PowerBook. You’ll enjoy the benefit of more onscreen space for your tools, palettes, browsers and spreadsheets. It’s ideal for watching movies in wide-screen format. Naturally, you can also make movies of your own with the included iMovie software, or get Apple’s Final Cut Pro for more advanced video editing, compositing and special effects. And you even have the option to connect to Apple’s line of all-digital flat-panel displays.

Versatile Video-out capability
Want to present your ideas on a flat-panel display, CRT or VGA monitor, large-screen TV or projection system? The PowerBook G4 has built-in video output capabilities that let you do just that. The PowerBook features DVI, VGA, S-Video and composite output options for connecting to CRTs, TVs and projectors. Want to connect a PowerBook G4 to one of Apple’s gorgeous flat-panel displays? All you need is the optional Apple DVI to ADC adapter, and you can connect to the 23-inch Apple Cinema HD Display (tripling your desktop workspace), the 22-inch Apple Cinema Display, or the 17-inch Apple Studio Display in seconds.

An easy gig
The PowerBook G4 comes with 256MB of RAM in the 867MHz model and 512MB of RAM in the 1GHz model. And it’s expandable to 1GB of RAM — allowing you to run several RAM-hungry applications simultaneously, or to store an entire graphics project in main memory for fast image manipulations.

Hard disk Huge drives
The PowerBook G4’s hard disk uses the high-speed Ultra ATA/66 interface, which enables video professionals to quickly transfer large video files in real time directly from a DV camcorder. Choose a 40GB hard drive (867MHz PowerBook G4), or a 60GB hard drive (1GHz PowerBook G4), both with 4200 rpm performance.
