HDLink connects SDI video directly to any supported DVI-D and DisplayPort based LCD computer monitor for incredible true HDTV resolution video monitoring. HDLink includes 3 Gb/s SDI for high resolution 2K film monitoring when connected to a large 30 inch DVI or DisplayPort display. With every individual pixel in the HD or 2K SDI connection digitally mapped directly to the pixels of the LCD display, you get a perfect digital-to-screen pixel for pixel HDTV or 2K display. Connect any HDMI television or video projector to HDLink for cinema style monitoring! Even large 23 inch CRT based monitors can’t display the full resolution of the HD-SDI signal, but with HDLink you see every pixel in the HD signal, so you'll always see a perfect image. You'll be amazed at the quality of High Definition or 2K video when you monitor via HDLink for the first time. There’s simply no higher resolution HDTV monitoring possible!
Supports both DVI and HDMI
HDLink supports all DVI-D and DisplayPort based digital computer displays and also includes HDMI video support. HDMI supports video at 1080i/50, 1080i/59.94 and 720p/59.94 on any HDMI device. DVI-D and DisplayPort supports displays at 1920 x 1200 (16:10) resolution for all 1080 HDTV formats. When working in 720 HDTV formats you can even use lower cost 1280 x 800 resolution display for pixel for pixel 720p viewing. When working in NTSC or PAL, HDLink can scale to fill the screen making viewing easier. Because most computer displays are limited to approximately a 60 Hz refresh rate, HDLink will automatically apply pull-down to allow video frame rates to be displayed. HDLink includes a built-in Power PC processor allowing automatic adjustment of native display resolutions using VESA E-EDID1.3.
World's Highest Quality 3 Gb/s SDI in 4:4:4
HDLink introduced the world’s first full HDTV resolution 4:4:4 monitoring solution that supports both standard definition SDI, HD-SDI and HD-SDI 4:4:4 for full resolution color monitoring. HD-SDI 4:4:4 features twice the color resolution. Conventional SD and HD video is 4:2:2 based, which limits color detail while 4:4:4 HD video preserves the full color detail which is important for critical keying and feature film work.
HDLink Pro is the first solution for the new high speed 3 Gb/s SDI standard for 4:4:4 RGB and 2K film monitoring. 3 Gb/s SDI runs twice the data rate of normal HD-SDI video, allowing 4:4:4 RGB video to be connected using a single SDI connection. 3 Gb/s SDI also allows full resolution 2K feature film quality 2048 x 1556 video to be connected via SDI.
Affordable 3D SDI Monitoring
Now HDLink Pro supports 3D monitoring for the latest 3D production workflows! HDLink Pro 3D lets you display both dual stream as well as interleaved 3D inputs and then display them on any compatible 3D DVI display or HDMI television. When used with a DisplayPort to HDMI adapter, HDLink Pro 3D DisplayPort also supports HDMI 1.4 for compatibility with the latest full resolution 3D televisions!
Built in Optical Fiber
The HDLink Optical Fiber model is the world's first broadcast monitoring solution with built in optical fiber SDI connections. Optical fiber easily handles long distances, is low cost, and optical fiber cables last virtually forever because you can keep plugging them into faster equipment in the future, and the same cables will go much faster. Optical fiber cables can be installed by your local electrician, and the cables can be purchased from your local electrical wholesaler. That's because optical fiber is used all the time in computer networking, so it's low cost and commonly available! Now you can build a native optical fiber facility!
Standard Definition, HDTV or 2K
HDLink supports all SDI based formats from standard definition NTSC/PAL to HD-SDI 1080 and 720 and even 2K film resolution when used with DVI displays. HDLink features 3 Gb/s SDI, so also works with real time 2K monitoring as used on Blackmagic Design's Multibridge Eclipse, Multibridge Pro and DeckLink HD Extreme. With HDLink you'll get the best image quality possible with format compatibility guaranteed years into the future. HDLink's SDI video input automatically switches between SD, HD and 2K. Unlike CRT based monitors, HDLink also supports all HDTV frame rates and formats including progressive HD formats.
SMPTE 352M video payload identification ancillary data is used for automatic input format recognition and RGB/YUV color space detection. Color precision is at an incredible 10 bit in both SD and HD formats. Video data is automatically rounded down to the bit depth of the connected LCD display for superior viewing quality.
Color Management via 3D Lookup Tables
For matching LCD display colorimetry and simulating various types of film stocks, HDLink Pro model features more advanced 3D lookup tables. Advanced 3D lookup tables increase color control because a blend of red, green and blue video can be output to each primary color on the connected display. Only advanced 3D lookup tables can give full color control for accurate simulation of almost any feature film stock. Lookup tables are fully adjustable via a high speed USB 2.0 host computer connection using the included HDLink Utility software for Windows and Mac OS X. Custom lookup tables also allow film industry log video to be converted to linear for monitoring when used for feature film work. Preset gamma tables for Panasonic™ and Grass Valley Thomson Viper cine-gamma are included.
Supports LCD Displays
HDLink supports DVI-D and DisplayPort based digital computer displays. For 1080 and 720 HDTV formats, a 1920 x 1200 (16:10) resolution display is recommended. However, if you’re working in 720 HDTV formats only, then a lower cost 1280 x 800 resolution display is recommended. When working in NTSC or PAL, HDLink can scale up the displayed image to fill the display making viewing easier.
Analog Audio Monitoring Output
Audio outputs are de embedded from the SDI input and then converted to analog at an incredible 24 bit. HDLink supports 6 channels out allowing easy monitoring of 5.1 surround sound audio. Audio is output on RCA connectors so you can easily connect to standard HiFi systems. If the connected display requires pull-down processing then HDLink will apply a variable audio delay ensuring perfect audio to video sync. To protect speakers and eliminate loud pops and other audio glitches, HDLink gently mutes the audio if video formats change or when SDI signals are connected and disconnected.
The world’s first scopes designed for editors and colorists, with the technical accuracy broadcast engineers will love! There's two great models of UltraScope designed for your needs. The amazing UltraScope with SDI and optical fiber SDI for PCI Express computers and the new portable Pocket UltraScope with SDI and USB 3.0, perfect for notebook computers!
Elegant and Engineering Accurate
If you’re tired of hard to use and ugly waveform monitoring, then you’ll love Blackmagic UltraScope. We have included all the features you need when editing or color correcting, and then, combined it with an elegant user interface that looks great when added to your studio! Simply plug into any compatible Windows™ computer with a 24 inch monitor, and Blackmagic UltraScope will display 6 live scope views simultaneously! UltraScope is engineering accurate and includes 3 Gb/s SDI plus 3 Gb/s optical fiber SDI. The new Pocket UltraScope plugs into USB 3.0 computers and is perfect for portable notebook use, and it even powers via USB from your notebook battery.
Parade Display for Colorists
When color correcting video, nothing beats the real time RGB parade waveform view. You can see the color balance in blacks, mids and whites, so it's easy to balance colors and get your images looking perfect. RGB Parade is also perfect for checking for illegal colors because any video that drops below the black line, or above the 100% line is an illegal RGB color. Parade can also be switched to component so you can align equipment and decks.
Waveform Display for Alignments
When adjusting video levels or matching black background levels when keying, the waveform display is ideal for this task! Waveform view has a setting that's luminance only or composite. Composite video is synthesized from the SDI input, and is a much better view for aligning traditional equipment such as decks. Thousands of editors know and understand composite waveform monitors, so even though UltraScope is all digital, the synthesized composite waveform makes life a lot easier!
Component Vectorscope View
A vectorscope is the only way to see what color you have. When color correcting video, sometimes you need to know color has been removed or nulled out for accurate white balance, and vectorscope view is perfect. Sometimes when color correcting you also need to apply a tint, and vectorscope lets you see exactly how much tint you're adding, and what color it is. Sometimes monitors cannot be trusted, but a vectorscope always shows the colors you have! Of course aligning hue on decks is always easy with vectorscope view!
Histogram for Location Shoots
Almost all video need to be color corrected at some point in the post production process, and so you never want to clip video whites or blacks when on a live shoot. If you clip the blacks and whites, you loose all detail later in post production when you try to adjust blacks up or whites down. Histogram view lets you see where the pixels are in your video, and how they are distributed from black to white. You can see if video is clipping, and then it's easy to adjust the camera to keep all black and white detail in the image. Later in post production you then have the full contrast range of video for easy color correction that lets you keep all details no matter how extreme the color grade is!
Audio view for Monitoring Levels
Keep track of your audio levels at all times with 8 channels of audio metering, plus a stereo phase meter. The stereo phase meter plots left and right audio, as an XY scope display so you know exactly what your audio is at all times. Audio scope lets you see mono audio, as you see a vertical line, or when you have stereo audio you will see the scope puff out in all directions! Audio problems are easily seen such as clipping, and out of phase audio can be seen as a left or right leaning display. If you don't get a perfect vertical waveform, then you know you audio channel balance is out! No audio problem can hide from audio scopes!
Picture View with VITC Timecode
The picture view lets you keep track of the video input so you always know what's going on and what video input is connected into your Blackmagic UltraScope. Input video is selected from either the optical fiber SDI or regular SDI inputs, and the video standard is automatically detected and displayed above the video image. VITC timecode and RP188 HD timecode is also detected and read into a timecode counter on the top right of the video image.
High end post production and television engineers have known for decades the benefit of using waveform monitoring not just for engineering, but operationally in color correction and editing workflow. From color correction to matching black levels when keying and overlaying video, only waveform monitoring lets you keep track of what's going on, and helps you eliminate illegal colors, and other problems that could cause your work to be rejected by broadcasters.
Of course, waveform monitoring is the best way to impress your clients and let them know that you're keeping on top of quality in your work!

No Manual Patching!
In the past most studios have been forced to use manual patching to connect editing workstations and decks. However this can become too complicated for creative designers, graphic artists and editors to understand, plus it gets even more complicated as your studio grows. Manual patching also caused problems with limited SDI cable lengths, and patch cables quickly wear out, so you get glitches as other users bump them while patching.
Videohub eliminates this problem because everyone is permanently connected, and no cables need to be physically changed ever. All video connections are changed from an easy to use software application right from your computer desktop. Unlike manual patching, Videohub re-clocks the SDI video signal for long cable lengths. Plus unlike manual patching, you can send one SDI video connection to as many outputs as you like, so multiple people can access any SDI video source, all at the same time.

Videohub also includes built in SDI re-clockers on each SDI input which regenerate the SDI video signal. Every inch of video cable from your SDI video devices degrades the SDI signal. Expensive premium grade "digital" cables can help, however simply cannot eliminate this loss. With SDI re-clocking you can have a regenerated and clean SDI signal out to all the SDI devices in your studio. That means longer cable lengths, and no glitches in your video.
Simultaneous SD, HD or 3 Gb/s Video
Videohub makes it easy to run Standard Definition and High Definition equipment now and add 3 Gb/s SDI equipment in the future. That's because Videohub handles mixed SD, HD and 3 Gb/s SDI connections all on the same router at the same time. Videohub automatically detects when an SDI input changes, and instantly sets all SDI outputs connected to that input to match. SDI re-clocking and output SDI slew rates change automatically.
Independent Monitoring
Because most editors love monitoring direct from the router, Videohub has up to 144 independent SDI outputs totally dedicated for monitoring. Independent monitoring outputs are great when you need to quickly look at decks and other editing systems in your facility. You can also use the extra outputs to connect consumer VHS and DVD recorders via external converters.
Deck Control Routing
With up to 144 independent Sony™ compatible RS-422 serial control ports included, each editing system can control any deck in your facility. Each deck control connection is independently reversible via software control, so it’s easy to connect edit stations or decks to any of the deck control ports.
World’s Highest Quality 3 Gb/s SDI
With the exciting new 3 Gb/s SDI connections built in, Videohub allows twice the SDI data rate than normal HD-SDI. Use 3 Gb/s SDI for high resolution real time 2048 x 1556 feature film editing. 3 Gb/s SDI has full compatibility with SD, HD or 2K in 4:4:4 or 4:2:2 all with a single BNC cable. With 3 Gb/s SDI built in, you have full compatibility with all your current standard definition SDI and high definition SDI equipment, plus any new formats that come along in the future. With Videohub, your studio is future proof.
Network Router Control
Videohub connects to any computer via USB and is then shared over your local network. Any computer can be the host by simply connecting to the router via the USB 2.0 connection, which activates that computer as the host and allows other computers on your network to connect. Router labels can be changed from any computer and are fully unicode compatible for foreign language support.
Now you can eliminate complicated manual video patching forever! Videohub lets you connect all the equipment in your facility and easily change connections right from your computer’s desktop! Videohub is a powerful broadcast grade routing switcher that features up to a massive 144 inputs, 288 outputs, 144 deck control ports, and auto switching SD, HD, and 3 Gb/s SDI, all in a compact rack mount chassis only a few inches thick.
High end post production and broadcasters have understood the advantages of professional routing switchers for decades, and now with Videohub, everyone can afford these same workflow advantages.
